Fireworks Safety Information (UK)

At Lets Party Fireworks, safety comes first so you can enjoy a brilliant display with peace of mind. Please take a moment to read these simple safety tips before using any fireworks at home.

General safety

  • Only adults (18+) should buy, handle or light fireworks.
  • Buy fireworks from reputable retailers and check they carry the UKCA or CE mark and meet BS EN 15947 standards.
  • Read and follow the instructions on each firework before lighting, never in the dark or in a rush.

Using fireworks at home

  • Keep fireworks in a closed, dry box and take them out one at a time.
  • Light fireworks at arm’s length with a taper, then stand well back and never return to a lit firework.
  • Never throw fireworks or carry them in your pocket, and keep spectators, especially children, at a safe distance.

Sparklers and children

  • Never give sparklers to children under five; always supervise older children closely.
  • Wear gloves, light sparklers one at a time, and place used sparklers in a bucket of water to cool fully.

Being considerate and legal

  • Let neighbours know if you are planning a display and consider low-noise options for pets, young children and those who are sensitive to noise.
  • Do not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except on permitted occasions such as Bonfire Night, New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year.
  • Never set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places.

After the display

  • Wait until the next morning to clear up if possible, and never attempt to relight duds.
  • Soak used fireworks, sparklers and debris in water before placing them in your household rubbish.

Enjoy your celebrations, follow the guidance above, and you’ll have a safer, more enjoyable show for everyone
