These are the generic firework categories we have Let’s Party Fireworks and they apply to other retailers too. Most small fireworks are legal to use in certain locations in the UK.
- F1 or Category 1 fireworks including sparklers, party poppers and Christmas crackers
- F2 or Category 2 fireworks are fireworks that can be used safely in a garden that is 5 – 8m or 16ft to 25ft
- F3 or Category 3 fireworks are powerful, these will be the loudest fireworks, creating the biggest bursts in the sky. For these, the safety distance is about 25m or 80ft
- F4 or Category 4 fireworks are professional ones, not for sale to the public
F1 and F2 fireworks are the best types of small fireworks to go for, especially if you are having a small outside garden party or gathering. If you want small fireworks, we recommend that you avoid F4 fireworks and perhaps F3 fireworks as they’re more appropriate for large outside spaces and bigger displays. They can end up being dangerous if they’re set off in smaller gardens and we don’t want you to create any damage to your home.

Should I check the weather forecast before setting up fireworks?
Yes, setting up small fireworks will be very weather dependent, as you won’t want to waste fireworks on windy or rainy evenings. Make sure you plan your display fireworks during months where there is little wind and rain expected, however, this can be hard to predict in the UK. Some of our customers are phased by the weather, whereas others won’t bother setting up fireworks unless it’s a completely calm and clear night. One way to protect fireworks in rainy cold weather is using clingfilm or polythene bags to wrap around the base of the display fireworks.
